Thoughts on today's readings

I just recieved a really cool email about chastity from my friend in seminary. It told of how chastity is neglected in today's society and how often many youth don't even know what it means. I personally liked his reflection, especially after today's second reading. We heard that an unmarried person is anxious about God, while a married person is anxious about a spouse and God, and thus are split. (1 Cor 7:32-35) So it seems that an unmarried person would be better able to serve God. I find that this relates to the reason why priests are not allowed to marry. This is probably one of the major reasons why.

The homily today was mostly on how Jesus taught in the synagogue. Not particularly what he taught, but more so on how important it is that he taught. We don't know what he said, but it was clearly very powerful for the people to be astonished. How much more powerful must it be then that Mark doesn't comment on what he said. (See Mark 1:21-28) I truly enjoyed the homily, even if it was a little lengthy. One can't always be perfect.

After Mass, we went out for lunch and then to go buy groceries for a Church function tonight on the evils of pornography. We bought a ton of drinks and it is amazing that we still have to go back later this week to buy more stuff for a SuperBowl Party. We are currently planning on just making pizzas for the game and having people bring chips and drinks. That should work out well. Well anyways, I have a ton of work still to do. Please check out my friend's website at www.catholicheart.com It is pretty cool. Well have a good day and smile, because you are God's!!!
